David

David Billups is the Managing Director of Insight NDT, forming the company in 1997 with Neil Browne.

Prior to forming Insight NDT, David acquired a wealth of practical experience working as a Foundry man at OH Steel Founders & Engineers Ltd, which further developed his knowledge of castings.

In 1981, David began to explore the concept of Radiographic Inspection, working with high energy X-Ray machines, Linear Accelerators and Betatrons. This knowledge was cemented in the SNT-TC-1A Level II qualification which David achieved in 1983 and maintains to this day.

Today, David specialises in the radiographic interpretation of a myriad of castings, ranging from small medical prosthetics to larger complex castings in excess of 16 tonnes.

Neil

Neil Browne is the Managing Director of Insight NDT, forming the Company in 1997 with David Billups.

Neil began his radiography career in 1984 as a Radiographer for Precision Cast Parts, where he worked on prosthetic components for the medical industry and larger castings for the aviation industry. During this time, Neil acquired a breadth of knowledge and experience of radioactive isotopes such as cobalt, Iridium, working on high profile jobs for companies such as Rolls Royce. He continued his career at Sellafield, gaining experience in the nuclear industry, and at William Cook NDT. Neil gained his SNT-TC-1A Level II qualification in 1987 and achieved PCN Level II IN 1991, and maintains both to this day.

Today, Neil specialises in the radiographic interpretation of a myriad of castings, ranging from small medical prosthetics to larger complex castings in excess of 16 tonnes.

Chris

Chris Cowen is the General Manager at Insight NDT. With over 10 years of practical experience in the industry, Chris oversees everything from tender stage to final inspection, ensuring operations run in an efficient and timely manner.

Chris achieved his SNT-TC-1A Level II and PCN Level II in 2008 which he maintains to this day. Chris works very closely with our customers, ensuring good working relationships are maintained by daily correspondence. He is also responsible for final sentencing of radiographs, and works closely with our trainee radiographers to ensure they are adequately trained to meet the standards of Insight NDT.

Prior to working with Insight NDT, Chris’ background was primarily in I.T, a subject in which he is extremely knowledgeable. He has developed the IT infrastructure of Insight NDT, creating a database system which provides the main framework of the business.

Chris is a member of the American Society for Non Destructive Testing.

millieGillatt

Millie

Millie Gillatt joined Insight NDT in 2012 as Quality Manager; she is responsible for maintaining and improving our ISO 9001:2008 accredited Quality Management System and conducts regular internal audits to ensure our operations remain effective and compliant.

Prior to working for Insight NDT, Millie worked as an Environmental Adviser for National Grid, working on major electricity infrastructure projects which is where she first became interested in quality. Today, she has used her knowledge of ISO and Environmental Management Auditing to convert to the Quality discipline.

Millie has an Msc (Distinction) in Environmental Management (Business), and is a member of Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) and an Associate Member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).

Richard

Richard Billups has been working at Insight NDT since 2008, progressing from Trainee Radiographer to Works Manager, where he works closely with employees to ensure tight deadlines are adhered to and standards of quality are maintained. Richard is always on hand to offer support, advice and motivation to the workforce.

Richard has recently achieved SNT-TC-1A Level II.

Laura

Laura Edwards has been with Insight NDT since 2011 and is  a key player in daily business operations.

Laura is the first point of contact for customers and assists with everything from tender stage to final completion of radiographic reports; she plays a pivotal role in quality, checking documentation throughout the radiographic inspection and order process.

Laura also assists with internal quality audits and the development of mutually beneficial customer and supplier relationships.

Laura has a Bsc (Hons) in Internet Computing and is currently working towards her SNT-TC-1A Level II.

Luke

Luke Billups joined Insight NDT in 2013 as Business Development Manager and is responsible for the generation of new business and accounts management.

Luke is constantly researching new business avenues, and is currently exploring other NDT disciplines.

Luke has a BA (Hons) in Business Studies and previously worked for Norton Cast Products as an Operations Analyst.

Insight NDT provide a high quality, high capacity and fast turnaround radiographic inspection service for cast, forged and welded products. We have been providing radiographic inspection services to the European manufacturing industry since 1997. By constantly investing in the latest radiography inspection equipment we can offer radiographic inspection on items of various weights, ranging from a few kilos up to in excess of 10 tonnes. 24 hour production schedules and eight inspection bays enable us to offer, and conform to, time critical schedules.

Insight NDT use advanced technology and cutting-edge techniques alongside traditional methods. Our Equipment consists of:

  • 4 x Agfa NDT-U automatic film processors
  • 2 x 300 KV Comet constant potential x-ray units
  • Iridium 192 up to 100 curie
  • Cobalt 60 up to 50 curie
  • 2 x Variable Betatron 2 MeV to 6 Mev (2 x 0.2mm effective focal spot)
  • Variable Betatron 2 MeV to 7.5 MeV (3 x 0.3mm effective focal spot)
  • Variable Betatron 2 MeV to 9 MeV (3 x 0.3mm effective focal spot)
